From Educator to Designer

As my teaching career progressed, my specializations in writing and literature transformed into teaching digital media and marketing.  Through a series of seminars, workshops, and conferences, I've learned a whole new skill set that I'd like to apply to the private sector.

'Teaching Turned Me Into a Designer'

As I learned more about UX and UI design fields, I realized how many of the skills that I learned by teaching various curriculum in the classroom directly translated into skills needed as a designer.

Teaching various English, business and media classes has instilled in me skills such as researching, analyzing, and communicating effectively. Through out my professional career as an educator, I became an expert at the Backward Design process which would be the teacher equivalent to the ADDIE process of design. I initially found the process daunting but became an expert in the process and would facilitate design meetings.

Through creating, prototyping, and testing  multimedia lessons I understand how design affects the overall user experience. I seek feedback on my web designs from colleagues and students in order to improve instruction, content, and understanding. Over the past year and a half I've taken courses in UX Design, AI and Data Analysis to continually improve my skills and understanding of industry  best practices.
